John A. Slezak

John A. Slezak is a civil, elections and environmental law litigator who has practiced in California's State and Federal Courts since 1975, and is of Counsel with the law firm of Iverson, Yoakum, Papiano & Hatch in Los Angeles.

Mr. Slezak was graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1974, after having graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in political science in 1970. Mr. Slezak also attended Loyola Marymount University from 1991 to 1994, where he obtained a Masters Degree in Environmental Science.

Mr. Slezak has served as lead litigation counsel in a wide variety of federal and state business, elections and environmental litigation. He has tried dozens of cases and has obtained published decisions in favor of clients as diverse as the Oakland Athletics, Firestone Tire, Hollywood Park Racetrack, the California Republican Party, Lockheed-Martin, and the Southern Nevada Culinary & Bartenders Pension Trust.

Mr Slezak has represented the Republican Party and candidates in cases upholding the Party's right to support oppose or endorse non-partisan officeholders such as Supreme Court Justices, prosecuting issuers of misleading slate mailers purporting to be from the Party, and defending Proposition 115, the Crime Victims Justice Reform Act

Mr. Slezak has also held public office, serving as Chairman of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board from 1991 to 1998. Mr. Slezak is also a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the conservation group California Trout.
