Leading the Way

Lawyers have contributed their considerable intellectual gifts to the enhancement of our country's political life for centuries. Whether through service as an elected or appointed government official, private attorney, political party leader, counsel to Republican candidates, law school professor, civic activist, judge, prosecutor or military officer, CRLA members have advanced political freedom, ensured fair, open and honest elections, and advanced professionalism in a manner consistent with Republican principles.

Founded in 1996, the CRLA has nurtured and advanced lawyer particpation in public affairs and trained lawyers for involvement in advancing Republican Party ideals.  The organization was founded by two past chairmen of the Republican Party of California who initially sought to bridge the time gap between political campaigns, so that there would be an ongoing program to attract and train lawyers to become active in the Republican Party and to represent its ideals. It was chartered and officially recognized in a unanimous vote by the Republican Party of California in 2000. 

Over time, CRLA members began to serve regular Republican Party entities at the local, state and federal levels as volunteers or retained legal counsel. Since 1996, CRLA members have been active in every state and federal election in California. In 2004, CRLA activated 400 lawyers to assist with election day ballot integrity programs. In addition, more than 150 lawyers were dispatched from California to other states.

The CRLA provides a strong network of legal professionals to assist candidates, county committees, and the Republican Party. As the leading voice for Republican lawyers in California, we actively sponsor candidates for legislative and judicial office and provide volunteers to campaigns and elections.  With members now in government, party general counsel positions, law firm management and on law school faculties, the CRLA has for many years been the principal California organization through which lawyers serve the Republican Party and its candidates.  Join Us Today!
